So in the 3:50 at Yarmouth today you have to ask yourself whether Arabian Nights is an all-weather horse after two successive wins on the AW after some disappointing runs on the turf. He may well just have found form, in which case – he’s lower than his last victory and is chasing a hat-trick. However, I’d be looking to play it safe here, given his turf record so far (he’s only 3 though)…
In the 5:00 at Kelso, you could have another stab at Shetland Bus but when the wins stop, stop – as the bookies say – and that 2nd last time out was a placeable opportunity, and today may just be the same. Beach Break is heading in the right direction though – and may be worth a chance today. He’s a good-ground horse from a yard bang in form and his own form has just bounced up into the 100s on LR. That’s ample in a race of this sphere, and he’s also on a good mark.
Fauvette returned nicely after 139 days out with a close 4th at Newmarket, and with the reappearance in the legs, is taken at 2/1 in the 1:10 at Yarmouth. William Buick takes the ride for this filly who rides in a field of ifs and buts. The top jockey rating swings it for me with Liberty Bay saddled with a 0.49 jockey rating, and a 1lb easing in the weights should bring the best out of our selection who knows how to win over the distance.
