Meh. Anyway, we’re up for the week, so nah. Well, I’ll start with Bollin Joan who has been running really well of late. A couple of 5th places belie the performances – the first was a class 2 and the second was a good event at York. This is a Class 3 event, and with 4 wins from 8 starts at Ripon, our selection looks like a form horse who’s running in perfect conditions. What more do you want? A price bigger than 2/1, yes, but that’s what you’ll get.

Evens money for Bowling Russian seems about right given that he’s been performing in much better events than this little seller, and his AW mark has been falling pretty quickly, so with a 71 in the LR column, and a race that looks his to win, it’s probably about right. This, btw, is the 5:50 at Lingfield. Sorry, sometimes I forget the race.

Now last week we had Power of States for the place money and he runs over the same C&D in the 3:50 at Chelmsford, off the same mark. The place money may be a little tighter this time, as his odds are around the 4/1 mark with most bookies, but that’s still compelling as form is form, and conditions will obviously suit him. He’s another who is four from eight on the track – so if he is running into form, now’s the time.

Apparently Ascot is on. Who’d have known eh? Bakeel is 11/1 in the Norfolk Stakes at 2:30 and frankly, if you’re backing anything here with any certainty, then you’re as drunk as the punters slogging it out during the last race over who spilled whose pint. That said, he rates best on his debut and his stallion rating suggests that he’s bred for this kind of race. And later on in the day, you have Stradivarius going again at the age of 8, and he’s 2/1, the kind of price that might tempt you back in.

Over to you.
