At 4:30 at Bath then, Cogital has every chance today after winning against a good sort last time around, and in the five races he’s run this year, he’s been at least placed in every single race. He’s got his hands full with Steel an Icon who is rightly the RTH Selection, but you won’t get very much for the latter given that he’s 6 from 10, so place money on Cogital, win money on Steel an Icon.
It’s a big field in the 4:35 at Haydock so you’re looking for a decent price on a selection like, perhaps, Lezardrieux who is 10/1 right now but is your 2nd-rated horse overall and has top trainer and top stallion ratings, while coming very close on form ratings in a clutch of three that are significantly ahead of the rest. He’s up 2lb but his jockey takes 7lb off, so that may compensate for his jockey’s relative lack of experience, and he’s a good place option today.
Consistency is the key in the 3:55, and Sarah’s Verse has been consistently 2nd. But the last time Tyler Heard took the ride (with his claim), he guided her to victory, and at a price of 8/1 you have an opportunity here who may normally have been on a mark that’s perhaps a little too high, but like the above, a claim may help. And – if you look at the racecard, then you’ll see in the stats box that she has won 3 times from 6 starts over 5.5 furlongs. That’s interesting, if nothing else is.
And lastly, at Chelmsford in the 2:35, Extrodinaire returns to the scene of his four victories and you may want to weigh up whether the step back to Class 2 is a step back enough – Class 4 might be nicer, so 9/1 or longer and additional place money because Stylish Performer has been doing nicely on the AW. The latter is around 5/1 at time of writing, which again is quite tasty because everyone’s attention is on Muttafawig.
