PROGWEIGHT

PROGWEIGHT is a system designed to find selections that often come under the radar in terms of form, but have shown good progression from 3LR (third last race) to 2LR (2nd last race), and from 2LR to LR (Last Race). This also comes with light treatment from the handicapper – no more than 4lb added (this is up for review).

Quick Guide

  • FormAnalysis: Best possible score of 3 – horses are given 1 point for coming top of the ratings in the Last Race, 2nd Last Race, 3rd Last Race in relation to other horses in the same race.
  • JockeyRank: Position in RTH’s Jockey rankings for today’s race.
  • TrainerRank: Position in RTH’s Trainer rankings for today’s race.
  • SuitRank: Position in RTH’s Suitability rankings for today’s race. This takes in many factors including strike rates on track, going, with this jockey, in this direction, etc.
  • OverallRank: Position in RTH’s Ratings.
  • Weight vs LR: Change in weight between today and the horse’s Last Race.
  • Weight vs LW: Change in weight between today and the horse’s Last Win.
  • Confidence: Maximum 5 stars, algorithmic
  • FORGIVE?: This looks for horses whose LR rating is less than its 2LR rating. This is unusual because the ratings depreciate over time, so a 2LR is depreciated to 60% of its true value. It often implies that the horse may have had an off-day last time out, or on the other hand, that it is out of form.
  • PROG?: This looks for horses who are progressive – so their LR is worth at least 2.5 times the 2LR. Often indicates a significant leap in form (or race value)
  • VALUE: This looks for whether the horse is entering a race where the prize money is higher or lower than last time out.

PROGWEIGHT Factors:

  • LR is at least double the 2LR score
  • 2LR is at least double the 3LR score
  • Weight added is no more than 4lbs
