Oh aye right, so I forget to back my selections for ONE DAY and they almost all come in. You’d better all pray I don’t back anything today.
So we’ll start with Lingers and the Winter Million meeting is this weekend. Whatever that is. Anyway, 2:25 and On The Blind Side is the most logical pick on best form, even though he hasn’t hit it over his last two races. That said, Chelts is Chelts, and Lingers is much easier. With an easing of weights and a more straightforward race, the price of 11/10 is fair.
6:30 at Newcastle, and 5/1 against Atrafan seems rather long for a horse with a 50% win rate over C&D, progressive ratings and an extra 4lb to cope with for his last effort. Anything within 6lb has a better-than-pinsticker average win rate, so we can handle that tonight. He has won here off 52, and his last win may well be put down to a dip in the weights, but he’s still well-handicapped and the last time he won one, he won two. Probably place money if it’s above 2.0 on the exchanges, but win chances too.
In the 12:40 at Southwell, a 7lb penalty on the evens-money favourite Ammo could be enough to put the kybosh on that one, so the next best might be an improver – Sky Legend started with a 57 at Kempton, which isn’t stellar but it’s a base to improve from, and Ross Coakley has won four of his last eight rides, so takes the top jockey rating by a mile. That matters in races like these. Also – look at New Comedy – very good stallion / jockey / trainer ratings and on debut could well run into the places.
And lastly, 4:15 at Dundalk – if you can get the price, Lady of Luxury is a fine option. Currently 10/3, this is a selection that improved for 2nd over C&D last time out and is still 1lb below last winning weight. With 3 wins from 10 starts here, it’s well worth backing if you can get good money – Power Drive is the obvious danger at the same price with a huge rating after a huge win, but it’s not sure he’ll race just yet.
Right – the rest is up to you.
